When asked what the best part of working at AMH is, Taylor says “the way we appreciate that we each have our own lives. We all respect each other’s lifestyle, and we give each other grace on how we work together.” When asked what makes her job the easiest, the answer was the same. Everyone working together – working together with people we respect and love. We are all different – single, married, with kids, no kids. But we each respect each other’s lifestyle and do everything we can to support each other. And that includes Larry. “Larry makes it special, it’s the culture he has built and projects and protects. I feel as if I’ve grown up with him. I wouldn’t be who I am if not for Larry’s influence for the last eleven years.”
Taylor has always had an eye on fashion. She worked at Hollister in the Robinson Mall during high school, and that’s where she met her husband, Shane Robertson. They have been together ever since. Taylor says the pandemic gave her and Shane a new perspective on life. Before the pandemic, they loved going out and spent a lot of time enjoying everything the city had to offer. During the pandemic, they learned that they also love spending time at home.
Since the pandemic, they’ve bought a house had a baby. “Covid changed our plans, and I couldn’t be happier. My son, Cru, was born on September 4, 2022 and he’s a wonderful addition to our life.” Taylor says working full time is a little harder with the baby, but she loves her work. “My hairdressing career fulfills a part of me that thrives on taking care of people. My perspective is different today than when I started. I’ve learned that you can’t please everyone. We have a great clientele, and I do my very best for every client, and focus on the positivity shared with my AMH family and the great vibe we create in our salon.”
Taylor attended Carlow University to study nursing but didn’t complete those studies. She says, “I think I always knew I wanted to do something with fashion and hair.” Eventually, she attended Bella Capelli Academy in Robinson and earned her hairdresser’s license. Taylor recalls that “AMH came to do a class at the Academy, and I became obsessed with Larry, Jen and Marinna. I even remember what Jen was wearing – they looked like rock stars. I knew I wanted to work there!” Eventually, she was thrilled to have Marinna as her mentor when she began her training with Larry.
She began working at AMH part time while studying at Capelli. (In fact, Larry hired her on her 21st birthday, but of course he didn’t know that.) It was during that time that she and Shane married.
“I’ve been with AMH for eleven years, and I have never regretted my decision. I do wish I had known how these people would become like family to me. I don’t’ think Marinna will ever let me forget that they weren’t all invited to my wedding.”
